Breaking Barriers: Inauguration of Beautician Training Center for Boys at Bal Bhawan

In a landmark initiative that challenges traditional gender roles and opens new doors for young men, the Beautician Training Center for Boys was inaugurated on 11th January 2025 at the Bal Bhawan Campus, Gurdaspur. This pioneering step reflects a progressive vision for inclusive skill development and equal opportunities, ensuring that the flourishing beauty and wellness industry is accessible to all, regardless of gender.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the esteemed Sh. Uma Shankar Gupta, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Gurdaspur, whose presence and words of encouragement marked the beginning of a transformative chapter for the youth of the region

A Vision for Inclusivity and Empowerment

The Beautician Training Center for Boys is an initiative launched in collaboration with UDAAN, a respected NGO committed to empowering underprivileged youth through education and skill development. Recognizing the immense growth and demand for skilled professionals in the beauty and wellness industry, both within India and internationally, this center provides a platform for young men to explore meaningful, creative, and financially rewarding careers.

During his address, Sh. Uma Shankar Gupta, IAS, emphasized the importance of breaking stereotypes and enabling boys to acquire professional skills in a field that has historically been perceived as female-dominated. He highlighted that the beauty industry today is not only about aesthetics but also about professionalism, entrepreneurship, and global career prospects.

“This center is not just about teaching beauty techniques,” Mr. Gupta shared, “it is about empowering young men with the confidence, skills, and opportunities to build dignified, successful careers. The beauty industry is booming worldwide, and there is ample space for passionate, skilled individuals to make their mark—irrespective of gender.

Building on a Proven Success Story

The launch of the Beautician Training Center for Boys comes on the heels of the tremendous success of the Beautician Training Program for Girls, which has already produced inspiring success stories, with graduates finding employment locally and internationally, and even launching their own businesses.

The introduction of a dedicated center for boys reflects the Child Welfare Council’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for skill development, recognizing that young men also deserve access to professional training in emerging industries.

Comprehensive Training for a Flourishing Industry

The Beautician Training Center for Boys offers a structured, comprehensive training program designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise. The curriculum focuses on:

  • Hair cutting, styling, and grooming

  • Skincare and basic facial treatments

  • Personal grooming and hygiene techniques

  • Beard styling and maintenance

  • Massage and wellness practices

  • Customer service and salon management

The training is delivered by industry-experienced instructors, ensuring that students gain real-world knowledge that prepares them for employment or entrepreneurship in the competitive beauty and wellness sector.

A Collaborative Effort for Lasting Change

The success of the Beautician Training Center for Boys is the result of collaborative efforts between the Child Welfare Council, UDAAN NGO, community leaders, and government officials. Together, they have created a safe, supportive, and professional environment where young men can learn, grow, and prepare for meaningful careers.

Heartfelt congratulations are extended to everyone who played a role in bringing this vision to life—from the dedicated trainers and staff to the students themselves, who have taken the bold step of embracing this opportunity.
